Drop off form
I have a convenient drop off system... two white mailboxes in front of the white brick house.
- Leave me your name and number on the included form. Its inside the mailbox.
- Place your knives inside one of the boxes (just leave the knives, no need to wrap them in your best dish towel)
- You will find a padlock inside the mailbox. Just lock the box you placed your knives in.
- Send me a text 801-210-0176 to let me know you dropped some knives off.
- I will grab them and give them the spa treatment per your instructions
- When done, I will text or call you with the lock code and amount due. You can pick up your super sharp knives whenever you want.
- You can leave cash or send the payment via Venmo to: @thomas-wheatley-4
I offer custom HAND sharpening on your kitchen, hunting and butchering cutlery. I sharpen many types of blades, most are done by hand using wet stones. Why is having a professional sharpen your knives better?
- I will inspect every knife, most often under magnification. Some knives get bent tips or cracks which you need to know about. We will discuss before I proceed with sharpening
- Your blade will last much longer if hand sharpened vs. typical home machine sharpening. Each time a blade is sharpened, metal is removed. Hand sharpening removes less metal.
- Most home machines use very aggressive sharpening stones. Those can build up heat in the blade. Heat can permanently affect the temper of the blade.
- I don't hate machines and may use one on your knife. I am very careful to only reduce a blade as little as possible. I will use a machine for re-profiling to fix a broken tip, or taking out major nicks and dings. Machines are also super helpful when sharpening axes, hatchets and yard tools and lawn mower blades.
